Tom began playing drums on the sofa with chop sticks at about six years old. His parents bought him his first drums when he was eight, in order to save the furniture! Tom's interest in the drums continued to grow throughout his teens in Cornwall where he was a member of the Cornwall Youth Percussion Ensemble, with whom he played at the Albert Hall and the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
Tom began playing professionally at age 14, performing with local band's and doing summer season pit work. With the excellent teacher Paul Hiley steering and encouraging him, Tom moved to London and gained a degree in jazz performance from the Royal Academy of Music.
Having left college Tom embarked on a professional career that has taken him all over the world performing and recording with many artists including;
Grace Jones, Simple Minds, Skye (singer with Morcheeba) , John Dankworth OBE, Jan Smit-(dutch singing star with whom Tom has played on five number one hits), Aynsley Lister, Jackie Graham, Brian McFadden, Christian Garrick, Kinobe, Stroke, Omar, The Kairos Ensemble, Ben Earle, Alwyn Wall and Norman Barratt and many more. Tom also works / has worked with producers; Ivor Guest (Oscar winning documentary-'Taxi to the darkside' /Grace Jones), Jimmy Hogarth (James Blunt, KT Tunstall, Suzanne Vega) and Matt Butler (Paul McCartney / Freelance).
I currently live in south west London with my wife Esther and two young daughters Grace and Lily.
